This Aint your Nanna's Lawn Bowls! Annual Lawn Bowls Lesson, Tournament and Picnic - Beverly Hills July 13 2008

Granny's beware. These lawn bowling lunatics will bowl you over with a mean arm and fierce competition. Devious tactics ensued (after our lesson), knocking out the opposition away from the jack. Cheers, and jeers could be heard erupting from teams across the green, whilst tactics and game plans were whispered behind sheilding hands, over the refreshment trolley.

Breaks were taken in between rounds to shoo the roos squirrels off the green, and the refreshment cart. It seems one squirrel had an appetite for sugared doughnuts - his waistline was quite the reflection of that.

As the games continues, teams were knocked off one by one until the final playoff between the Tassy Devils and the Banana Benders. Thankful to be out of the sun and the blistering heat, many of us retired to the club rooms for a cool bevvy and a sit down. Ok ok, so this IS your Nanna's lawn bowls!

Peter and Kathy (the most devious of all players) bowled over their competition and remain the 2008 AustraUSA Lawn Bowls Champions.

Next year Pete - next year... you just wait mate!
